Ce qui est bon signe. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lefigaro.fr\/conjoncture\/une-premiere-mondiale-un-forage-confirme-la-presence-importante-d-hydrogene-naturelle-en-moselle-20260324\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">En 2023<\/a>, pour la premi\u00e8re fois, des chercheurs d\u00e9celaient des traces d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne dans des nappes souterraines situ\u00e9es sous la commune lorraine de Folschviller (Moselle). La nouvelle avait alors suscit\u00e9 l\u2019espoir chez les habitants de cette ancienne r\u00e9gion mini\u00e8re aujourd\u2019hui sinistr\u00e9e. Mais elle avait aussi d\u00e9clench\u00e9 les ricanements des activistes \u00e9cologistes de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/reporterre.net\/L-hydrogene-le-fantasme-du-Grand-Est\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reporterre<\/a>, incr\u00e9dules quant \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une importante r\u00e9serve.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une d\u00e9couverte qui \u00e9nerve les \u00e9colo-activistes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Depuis, plusieurs autres d\u00e9couvertes dans la zone ont convaincu la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Fran\u00e7aise de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.francaisedelenergie.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FDE<\/a>), d\u00e9tentrice d&rsquo;un permis exclusif de recherche sur 300 communes (plus de 2200 km2), d\u2019effectuer un forage en profondeur. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9 en mars 2026 \u00e0 quelques kilom\u00e8tres de l\u00e0, sur le territoire de la commune de Pontpierre, \u00e0 l\u2019est de Metz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"fr\" dir=\"ltr\">Un forage \u00e0 plus de 3 600 m\u00e8tres de profondeur dans les sous-sols de Moselle a permis de confirmer la pr\u00e9sence importante d&#39;hydrog\u00e8ne naturel. Ce pourrait m\u00eame \u00eatre la plus grande r\u00e9serve d&#39;hydrog\u00e8ne blanc au monde.<br><br>\ud83c\udfa5 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LargeronPascal?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LargeronPascal<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/U0cKFFcCZT\">pic.twitter.com\/U0cKFFcCZT<\/a><\/p>&mdash; M6 Info (@m6info) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/m6info\/status\/2040701791088648439?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 5, 2026<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 ce sujet \u2014&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bvoltaire.fr\/flambee-des-prix-des-carburants-et-si-on-suspendait-les-certificats-deconomie-denergie\/\">Flamb\u00e9e du prix&nbsp;des carburants&nbsp;: et si on suspendait les certificats d\u2019\u00e9conomie d\u2019\u00e9nergie&nbsp;?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 3655 m\u00e8tres de profondeur, l\u2019intuition est devenue r\u00e9alit\u00e9, le test permettant de d\u00e9couvrir&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfmtv.com\/economie\/entreprises\/energie\/la-france-a-decouvert-en-lorraine-un-gisement-d-hydrogene-equivalent-a-14-annees-de-consommation-electrique-de-la-belgique-le-pays-voisin-veut-lui-aussi-sonder-ses-sols_AD-202603300739.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">un r\u00e9servoir naturel d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne<\/a>&nbsp;estim\u00e9 \u00e0 34 millions de tonnes. Si ce chiffrage s\u2019av\u00e9rait exact, il pourrait alors s\u2019agir de la plus grosse r\u00e9serve d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne naturel au monde. La nouvelle n\u2019a pas manqu\u00e9 de susciter l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat des voisins belges. Ils ont vite compris que leur proximit\u00e9 frontali\u00e8re avec le forage de FDE pouvait signifier : d\u2019autres gisements pourraient exister sous leur propre sol. Ils ont donc lanc\u00e9&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfmtv.com\/economie\/entreprises\/energie\/la-france-a-decouvert-en-lorraine-un-gisement-d-hydrogene-equivalent-a-14-annees-de-consommation-electrique-de-la-belgique-le-pays-voisin-veut-lui-aussi-sonder-ses-sols_AD-202603300739.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leur propre programme de recherches<\/a>. Le gouvernement belge a estim\u00e9 que le gisement mosellan pourrait \u00e0 lui seul suffire \u00e0 produire l\u2019\u00e9quivalent de pr\u00e8s d\u2019une quinzaine d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es de consommation d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 de toute la Belgique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aussi abondant que l\u00e9ger<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais s\u2019agit-il l\u00e0 d\u2019une si bonne nouvelle ? Les exp\u00e9riences d\u2019exploitation de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 des fins de production \u00e9lectrique ont \u00e9t\u00e9 jusqu\u2019ici d\u00e9cevantes. Et de quoi parlons-nous exactement s\u2019agissant d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne ? Comme le rappelle pour BV le sp\u00e9cialiste de l\u2019\u00e9nergie Philippe Charlez,&nbsp;<em>\u00ab l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est de loin l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment le plus abondant et le plus l\u00e9ger dans l\u2019univers \u00bb<\/em>. Mais sur terre, on le trouve rarement sous forme libre.&nbsp;<em>\u00ab&nbsp;Il est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement associ\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne dans l\u2019eau, ou \u00e0 du carbone dans les hydrocarbures. On le trouve aussi dans la roche, et particuli\u00e8rement dans l\u2019argile&nbsp;\u00bb<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sous forme de gaz, l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est tr\u00e8s volatile et donc difficile \u00e0 \u00ab&nbsp;capturer&nbsp;\u00bb.&nbsp;<em>\u00ab&nbsp;Son extr\u00eame l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 est \u00e0 la fois un avantage et un inconv\u00e9nient&nbsp;\u00bb<\/em>, pr\u00e9cise Philippe Charlez.&nbsp;<em>\u00ab&nbsp;Tout le monde se souvient du dirigeable allemand Hindenburg. L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne en avait fait un mode de transport transatlantique, mais le 6 mai 1937, il s\u2019est embras\u00e9 d\u2019un coup \u00e0 l\u2019atterrissage&nbsp;\u00bb<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u00ab&nbsp;L&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne est aujourd\u2019hui utilis\u00e9 pour fabriquer les engrais azot\u00e9s, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;ammoniaque (association d&rsquo;azote et d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne)&nbsp;\u00bb<\/em>, rappelle Philippe Charlez.&nbsp;<em>\u00ab Cela explique pourquoi, fabriqu\u00e9s en tr\u00e8s grandes quantit\u00e9s dans la p\u00e9ninsule arabique, ces engrais sont aujourd\u2019hui,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bvoltaire.fr\/flambee-des-prix-des-carburants-et-si-on-suspendait-les-certificats-deconomie-denergie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comme les carburants,<\/a>&nbsp;touch\u00e9s par une p\u00e9nurie qui p\u00e9nalise l\u2019activit\u00e9 de nombreux agriculteurs en Europe \u00bb<\/em>. Il est par ailleurs utilis\u00e9 aussi en sid\u00e9rurgie, pour extraire le fer du minerai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une \u00e9nergie renouvelable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u2019une composition chimique instable, l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est par ailleurs particuli\u00e8rement inflammable, mais aussi explosif. D\u2019o\u00f9 son utilisation dans le nucl\u00e9aire et dans le carburant des fus\u00e9es. C\u2019est donc une \u00e9nergie, qui permet de produire de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9.&nbsp;<em>\u00ab&nbsp;Avec une pile \u00e0 combustible, on peut fabriquer de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne et d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne&nbsp;\u00bb<\/em>, explique Philippe Charlez.&nbsp;<em>\u00ab&nbsp;D\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019id\u00e9e de l\u2019utiliser dans les v\u00e9hicules, en utilisant l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne contenu dans l&rsquo;eau (hydrog\u00e8ne vert). Mais ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 donne un carburant co\u00fbtant de l&rsquo;ordre de cinq \u00e0 six euros le litre&nbsp;\u00bb<\/em>, donc trois fois plus cher que les carburants d\u00e9riv\u00e9s du p\u00e9trole, sans compter que les voitures \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne actuelles avec pile \u00e0 combustible co\u00fbtent plus de 70 000 euros pour les moins ch\u00e8res&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne d\u00e9couvert en Moselle pourra-t-il donc \u00eatre exploit\u00e9 ?&nbsp;<em>\u00ab&nbsp;Il faudra mettre au point un s\u00e9parateur sp\u00e9cial, capable de r\u00e9sister aux hautes pressions (350 bar) et \u00e0 des temp\u00e9ratures d\u2019une centaine de degr\u00e9s.&nbsp;Il faudra donc quelques mois d\u2019attente avant de rendre son extraction op\u00e9rationnelle \u00bb<\/em>, pr\u00e9cise Philippe Charlez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>35 millions de tonnes, c&rsquo;est la moiti\u00e9 de la consommation annuelle mondiale d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne.&nbsp;<em>\u00ab En France, notre consommation est d\u2019environ 5 millions de tonnes. Ce gisement nous permettrait donc de disposer d\u2019une petite dizaine d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es de r\u00e9serve d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne. L\u2019avantage de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, c\u2019est que, contrairement aux hydrocarbures, il se renouvelle naturellement relativement rapidement. C\u2019est donc une \u00e9nergie renouvelable \u00bb,&nbsp;<\/em>conclut Philippe Charlez. De quoi renforcer l&rsquo;autonomie \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique du pays.
